Your Pension Protections
The Company Pensions Act was put in place to ensure the company pension schemes that employers offer (as they are legally required to) to their employees. This includes everything from protection of the assets, to severance pay to adjusted vesting cycles.
A pension scheme is your right as an employee, though you are not required by law to have one. If your employer does not offer a pension scheme, it is within your right to ask for it. Other benefit offerings like stock options, ancillary development funds and training budgets do not replace the benefits that are to be provided by your pension.
If you are not from Germany and don’t intend on staying in Germany for the long term, these benefits can be transferred to you once you leave and deregister from being a resident.
